Laurencia Bonsu (Environmental and Occupational Health), Smriti Neupane (Nevada Institute for Children's Research and Policy), and Asma Awan and Manoj Sharma (both Social and Behavior Health) presented a poster tilted “A phenomenological study of the lived experiences of how international students viewed a mass shooting at a large southwestern university and gun violence in the United States” at the American Public Health Association 2024 Annual Meeting on October 27, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as part of the APHA Student Assembly Poster Session. This qualitative research contributes to the understanding of international students' needs and perspectives in the context of campus safety. It highlights the importance of culturally sensitive counseling services and proactive communication strategies by university administrations and inform policymakers in developing inclusive and effective emergency response plans and support systems that cater to the diverse student population. Bonsu is a PhD student.
