Ph.D. candidate Kristine Jan C. Espinoza (Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education) is one of four authors who contributed to a commentary forum titled, "We Won’t Go Back: Asian Americans and Racial Justice After Affirmative Action," which was published in Amerasia Journal, an interdisciplinary journal in Asian American Studies housed with the UCLA Asian American Studies Center Press. As part of this commentary forum, Espinoza's co-authored essay titled, "The Race-Conscious University Must Be Defended," offers ideas on what higher education can still do to advance racial justice: tracking racial inequities with data and promoting Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) such as Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs).
Espinoza contributed alongside professor and director of Asian American Studies Janelle Wong (University of Maryland), OiYan Poon (Co-Director, College Admissions Futures Co-Laborative and author of Asian American is Not a Color: Conversations on Race, Affirmative Action, and Family), and Dr. Jude Paul Dizon (Assistant Professor of Higher Education Leadership, California State University, Stanislaus).
