Kenyon Lee Whitman (Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education) published with colleagues a book chapter titled, "Race-Conscious Affirmative Action in U.S. Higher Education in an Era of Pronounced White Racial Backlash," in the edited book, The Racial Crisis in American Higher Education, (3rd ed.). In this chapter, they describe the current state of race-conscious admissions practices in higher education by contextualizing the contemporary affirmative action debate. They also highlight the power and importance of student activism and interrogate recent Supreme Court case decisions and the reshaping of justices at the federal level. Lastly, we problematize color-blind admission policies.
