Kenny Do, Emily Sagalow, Richard Wang, Oluwafunmilola T. Okuyemi, Jo-Lawrence Bigcas (Otolaryngology) published a report detailing two cases of occult thyroid carcinoma (OTC) in Cureus. This rare phenomenon involves thyroid metastasis to locoregional lymph nodes without an identifiable primary tumor in the thyroid gland. There are many theories as to how this disease can occur, including BRAF gene mutations or spontaneous regression of the primary cancer in the thyroid. Due to the rare nature of OTC, more studies are needed in order to better understand the pathophysiology of and treatment for the disease.
