Kavita Batra (Medicine) was honored with the World Changer Award (Alumnus) by the School of Public Health Leadership at their 20th Anniversary celebration on Nov. 8, 2024. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact as leaders and advocates in public health. The UNLV School of Public Health, formerly known as the School of Community Health Sciences and led by Dean Shawn L. Gerstenberger, was founded in 2004 with a mission to improve global health and well-being. Over the past 20 years, the school has expanded its departments, programs, and research initiatives, providing a rich education, hands-on training, and abundant community engagement opportunities to prepare students as future leaders in public health.
Batra, who earned her doctorate in public health from this institution, currently serves as the executive director of Medical Research and Scholarly Activities at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. She continues to share her expertise and the invaluable insights she gained from the School of Public Health with the next generation, inspiring them to make their own mark in public health.
