Karen E. Callahan (Environmental and Occupational Health) published an article on "Risk of Cancer Death Among White, Black, and Hispanic Populations in South Florida" in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease. The objective of the study was to characterize patterns of cancer deaths by race/ethnicity in South Florida and compare rates between South Florida and the United States.
Callahan conducted this study in collaboration with other researchers, including former UNLV associate professor Paulo Pinheiro who is now at the University of Miami.
