Kara Christensen and Nicole Short (both Psychology), with a colleague at the University of Alberta, published a chapter, "Insomnia in Eating Disorders," in the new book, Eating Disorders. In this chapter, they provide an overview of the literature on insomnia disorder in people with eating disorders, potential mechanisms for comorbidity, and psychological treatment options.
Kara Christensen also published a new article with colleagues at the University of Kansas, "Screening for eating disorders across genders in college students: Initial validation of the brief assessment of stress and eating," in International Journal of Eating Disorders. This study is a validation of the BASE, a new 10-item screening measure for eating disorders. Notably, the BASE may outperform other screening measures in identifying cisgender college men with eating disorders, a group that often goes underdiagnosed and undertreated.
