June Cho and Jay Tan (both Nursing) recently were selected as fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) for their extensive contributions to the field and for advancing health policy and practice. They were among 231 distinguished nurse leaders selected for the 2019 class of AAN fellows, which is considered by many the highest honor in nursing.
AAN fellows are nursing leaders in education, management, practice, and research. They represent executives, university presidents, chancellors, and deans; elected officials; hospital executives; and researchers and entrepreneurs. Fellows are selected by a committee of current members following a competitive and rigorous process that considers contributions to increase access, reduce cost, and improve quality through nursing theory, practice, and science.
Cho and Tan join five AAN fellows currently at UNLV, including dean Angela Amar; professors Catherine Dingley, Rachell Ekroos, and Barbara St. Pierre Schneider; and former dean Carolyn Yucha. Class of 2019 fellows will be formally inducted in October at the AAN’s annual policy conference in Washington, D.C.
