Juliana Byzyka (Transportation Research Center) presented "Improving Asphalt Patch Repair Performance through Innovative Heating Technology" during the 2023 Fall Transportation Conference held on Nov. 1-2, 2023, at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The study presented the realities of patch repair work and the impact of material transportation and quality of repair on the durability of the repair. It also demonstrated the benefits of infrared heating in the repair activity. The ultimate goals of the study are to integrate asphalt pavement repair; provide long-lasting repairs; enhance road conditions; reduce vehicle damages and personal injuries; generate cost savings for both road owners and users; and reduce energy consumption and emissions.
