Joseph Kevin Sebastian (Libraries) presented "Reversing White Yearning: A Brown and Queer Filipinx Librarian’s Exorcism of Colonialism and Veneration of Indigenous Ancestry (A Work in Progress)" at the People of Color in Library and Information Science Summit at Loyola Marymount University. The presentation shared some of the work Sebastian has completed toward a paper that will be presented at the International Indigenous Librarians Forum (IILF) in November. By adopting the form of reflective autotheory, the work is an attempt to reflect and enact the decolonization of knowledge, framed through his personal experiences in a western-inflected Philippine educational system and through an investigation into Philippine historiography and epistemological discourse.
