Dr. Jorge Vega, Dr. Paul Chestovich, Dr. Syed Saquib, and Dr. Douglas Fraser recently had a manuscript, "A 5-Year Review of Pavement Burns From a Desert Burn Center," published in the July/August volume of the Journal of Burn Care & Research. The doctors, all part of the department of surgery, reviewed pavement burn injury admissions over a period of five years. A total of 173 pavement-related burn cases were identified. Among the findings was that more than 88 percent of pavement-related burn injury admissions occurred when the ambient temperature reached 95°F or higher.
