Johan Bester (Medicine) recently published an article, "Dismissal of Child-Patiens for Nonvaccination Should Not Be Policy." This article considers moral arguments to evaluate the ethics of a policy of dismissing a pediatric patient when parents refuse vaccination. It is important to consider the ethics of such a policy, as research shows an increased interest among physicians to respond to vaccine refusal by dismissing of patients. This article shows that such a policy is not ethically defensible, and that more is to be achieved for the child and the community by engaging vaccine hesitant parents in trusting clinical relationships.
