Dr. Jo-Lawrence Martinez Bigcas (Medicine) was recently a guest speaker at Advancements and Innovations in Surgery: OMFS, ENT, Head and Neck, & Facial Plastics, an international multidisciplinary conference in San Diego. He represented the UNLV's robust head and neck oncologic surgery program with his presentation, "Advancements and Innovations in Transoral Robotic Surgery and Treatment of Oropharyngeal Cancer." His presentation reviews the changing landscape of treating human papilloma virus-driven head and neck cancers. His lecture highlights cutting-edge advancements in head and neck transoral robotic surgery, an oncologic treatment modality offered here in Las Vegas by the only three fellowship-trained head and neck surgical oncologists in the state — Drs. Robert Wang, Oluwafunmilola Okuyemi, and Bigcas, all of whom are with the otolaryngology department at UNLV.
