Jichun Li (Mathematical Sciences) and his Ph.D. student, Li Zhu, published a paper, "Analysis and Application of Two Novel Finite Element Methods for Solving Ziolkowski’s PML Model in the Integro-Differential Form," in SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis (the top journal in Computational Mathematics). They also published "A new time-domain finite element method for simulating surface plasmon polaritons on graphene sheets," with professor Todd Arbogast from the University of Texas at Austin in Computers & Mathematics with Applications, a top interdisciplinary journal in Computational Mathematics.
