Jeremy Kilburn, Angelica Honsberg, and Buddha Dawn (all Medicine) and co-authors from several other institutions recently published an article titled, “Beyond trauma: High-volume critical care medicine in a military medical center-based military-civilian partnership,” in Military Medicine, which is published on behalf of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. This study evaluated the comparative patient volume and acuity for the military critical care physicians working at Military Treatment Facilities and the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. The results underscored that military-civilian partnerships are invaluable toward maintaining the clinical proficiency of military critical care physicians.
