Jennifer R. Pharr, Ravi Batra, Emylia Terry (all Public Health) along with Kavita Batra (Medicine) published a study, "Intrapersonal Predictors of Physical Violence Toward and Sexual Assault of Lesbian and Bisexual Women and the Associated Mental Health Outcomes: A Cross-Sectional Analysis," in the journal LGBT Health. This study reported that lesbian and bisexual women experience physical violence and sexual assault because of their sexual orientation. Sexual assault was associated with an increased risk for suicidal ideation. Ravi Batra and Emylia Terry are doctoral students in the School of Public Health. Jennifer Pharr and Kavita Batra have led and co-authored several articles on the disparities among sexual minority groups.
