Jason Flatt (Social and Behavioral Health) recently published with colleagues, "Cognitive Impairment in Sexual and Gender Minority Groups: A Scoping Review of the Literature," in LGBT Health. Key findings were that published studies identified a positive relationship between LGBTQ+ identities and self-reported cognitive impairment, but evidence was mixed for objective measures of cognitive performance. We highlight the need for well-designed longitudinal, observational studies, the use of objective measures of cognitive function, and a need for better understanding risk factors.
