Jason Flatt (Social and Behavioral Health) recently received a five-year, over $3.5 million grant (1R01AG083177-01) from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging, "Enhancing Measurement and Characterization of Roles and Experiences of Sexual and Gender Minority Caregivers of Persons living with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias." Flatt, along with co-principal investigators, Joel Anderson (University of Tennessee Knoxville) and Maritza Dowling (George Washington University), will be conducting a study to enhance understanding of experiences, roles and dynamics for sexual and gender minority (LGBTQIA+) dementia caregivers by identifying existing domains and developing new measures, testing and validating these measures, and ensuring that these measures are inclusive and accurately capture caregiving constructs and experiences of LGBTQIA+ dementia caregivers.
