Harriet E. Barlow, executive director of The Intersection, joined a panel of Southern Illinois University students, staff, and alumni to discuss African American historical events in the regions surrounding SIU System campuses and highlight influences these historical episodes have had on SIU System development. Airing on Nov. 16, the panel discussion entitled, African American History at SIU and the SIU region, was presented as part of the SIU Systems' Conversations of Understanding series. The series provides opportunities for exchanges where students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the broader SIU communities can share their experiences and thoughts on a variety of themes related to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
