Hamid Reza Nikkhah (Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology) has published a new study in Information Systems Frontiers. The article, co-authored with Frederic Schlackl from HEC Montreal and Rajiv Sabherwal from the University of Arkansas, examines how cultural differences influence privacy considerations and responses to institutional privacy assurances in mobile cloud computing (MCC) apps.
With billions of users worldwide relying on MCC apps, privacy concerns related to cloud data storage have become increasingly important. The study analyzes survey data from over 2,400 users across the U.S., U.K., and India, revealing how cultural dimensions shape users’ privacy perceptions and their trust in privacy policies and ISO 27018 certifications. The findings highlight the need for app developers to consider cultural factors when designing and communicating privacy assurances.
This research contributes to the growing discourse on privacy in cloud computing and provides valuable insights for developers, policymakers, and researchers interested in cross-cultural privacy behaviors.
