Gabriela Buccini (Social and Behavioral Health) is a co-author of a newly published article, "Intergenerational perceptions and practices in breastfeeding and child feeding among quilombola women (African Brazilian) in Goiás State, Brazil," in the Reports in Public Health journal.
This exploratory qualitative study aimed to identify socio-cultural and intergenerational aspects of perception and practices in child feeding among quilombola women, members of maroon communities in Brazil. Four central themes were identified and represented in a socio-ecological conceptual model. Promoting adequate and healthy child feeding practices needs to address aspects of the quilombola women's socio-cultural context and adopt emancipatory approaches, guaranteeing quality care for this population.
