Gabriela Buccini (Social and Behavioral Health) is a recipient of the Service Member Patriot Award, a recognition earned through the nomination of her doctoral student, Keishmer Cardoso, a captain in the National Guard.

This distinguished award acknowledges the support provided by individual supervisors and bosses to an employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard of a Reserve member. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
