Federick Ngo (Educational Psychology and Higher Education) co-authored the article "Giving Community College Students Choice: The Impact of Self-Placement in Math Courses," which was published in the American Educational Research Journal. The study shows how removing placement testing requirements and letting students choose their own math courses most benefitted white, Asian, and male students. The article offers suggestions for ways to promote equity in contexts of developmental education and placement testing reform.
