Eddy Virgena, Niema Beckford, and Sanae El Ibrahimi (all Environmental and Occupational Health, published two abstracts and presented two posters last month that investigated trends and disparities in suicide among American youth and older adults. They are:
- "Suicide Trends and Disparities Among Older Adults in the United States, 1999-2017," which was presented at the 2019 Gerontological Society of America annual meeting in Austin, Texas.
- "Suicide Disparities Among School-aged Minority Children and Young Adults in the United States, 1999-2017," which was presented at the 2019 American Public Health Association annual meeting in Philadelphia.
Both scientific meetings are prestigious conferences that attract thousands of local and national public health professionals and researchers.
Virgena and Beckford are undergraduates. El Ibrahimi is their mentor.
