David F. Damore and Michelle Keunzi (both Political Science) are the authors of a paper, "Executive Turnovers in sub-Saharan Africa," that has been accepted for publication in International Area Studies Review. The paper applies competing risks duration analysis to data collected from 47 sub-Saharan African countries between 1960 and 2008, to examine how institutional arrangements and ethnic-political dynamics affect the length of leaders' tenures and the manner by which leaders lose power.
