Daniel Bubb (Honors) earlier this month joined a panel of experts at National Park Service's (NPS) offices in Boulder City to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Boeing B-29 "Superfortress" that crashed in Lake Mead during a missile avoidance system high- and low-altitude test. All five crew members miraculously survived the crash. The two panel sessions included Bubb's presentation on the history of aviation in 1948, photos of the plane by National Park Service divers, narration of the mission and crash by Desert Research Institute analysts, and a question-and-answer session with the audience. The plane remains at the bottom of Lake Mead. The NPS will continue to preserve it there.
