Danica G. Hays (Education) contributed the article, "Promoting Rigorous Research: Generalizability and Qualitative Research" to the April special issue of the Journal of Counseling & Development (JCD), "Advancing the Counseling Profession Through Research and Publication." In this invited work, Hays and her co-author present types of generalizability as well as strategies for maximizing generalizability within and across qualitative studies (i.e., grounded theory, autoethnography, content analysis, metasynthesis). They describe six phases for aggregating qualitative research to conduct a metasynthesis, which can be applied as relevant to the metastudy approaches of formal grounded theory, autoethnography, and content analysis. JCD is the flagship journal of the American Counseling Association.
