Dan Lee and Sean Goff (both Political Science) published an article, "A Sum of Its Parts: Party Fit and Party Change in the U.S. House" in American Politics Research. Using social network analysis on bill cosponsorship networks, they track the transformation of the parties in the U.S. House of Representatives since the 1970s. Party centrality within the cosponsorship network influenced retirement decisions, which reinforced and contributed to party change.
