Cyndi Shein (Libraries), was selected as the recipient of the 2018 University Libraries Outstanding Faculty Scholarship Award. She was nominated for her excellent scholarship record, which includes two recently published peer-reviewed articles focused on the University Libraries implementation of ArchivesSpace.
Since 2014, her publications have had a combined 6,231 downloads from 87 countries. Many of those downloads were for her 2014 article, "From Accession to Access: A Born-Digital Materials Case Study." Since its publication, this article has won the inaugural Best General Interest Article Award from the Journal of Western Archives, has become required reading in some graduate-level library studies courses, and become suggested reading for the Society of American Archivists Digital Archives Certification Exam and the online handbook of the Digital Preservation Coalition (a European source for cultural heritage institutions).
Her scholarly work is finding a large audience in the archives community and highlighting the important work being done at the UNLV University Libraries. She is head of special collections of technical services.
