On Sept. 26, professor Christopher Willoughby (Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies) gave a lecture at Weill Cornell Medical School in New York City as a part of the Heberden Society’s annual History of Medicine Speaker Series. Based on his recent book, Willoughby spoke on the history of racial science and slavery in Manhattan’s medical schools. His talk was titled, “Manhattan’s Masters of Health: Racial Science in New York City’s Medical Schools, 1767-1861.”
