Chad L. Cross (Environmental & Occupational Health) published an extension outreach publication with Peter DiGennaro (Department of Entomology & Nematology, University of Florida) on the sealworm nematode (Pseudoterranova decipiens). This parasitic nematode is common in marine systems, but opportunistically affects humans when ingested through the consumption of raw or undercooked fish infected with this parasite. The purpose of this publication was to provide an educational overview of the biology, distribution, medical importance, economic importance, and management of this nematode parasite.
Cross also published an extension outreach publication with Andrea Lucky and Jason Williams (Department of Entomology & Nematology, University of Florida) on the oriental rat flea (Xenopsylla cheopis). This infamous flea is best known as one of the carriers of the plague bacterium. The purpose of this publication was to provide an educational overview of the biology, distribution, medical importance, economic importance, and management of this important disease vector.
