C.E. Abbate (Philosophy) published a paper titled "Valuing Animals As They Are—Whether They Feel It or Not" in the European Journal of Philosophy. In this paper, she provides two respect-based arguments in defense of the claim that animals can be subject to dignitary wrongs, such as when they are dressed up in human clothing, mocked, and shamed on the internet.
