Brookings Mountain West recently published a housing policy brief authored by colleagues from the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution. The policy brief titled, "How Did Homelessness Change During the Great Recession and Recovery?" examines changes in homelessness rates from 2007 to 2020 within Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Riverside (metro areas that were particularly hard-hit by the foreclosure crisis) to gain some insight into how homelessness changes over macroeconomic cycles.
