Brookings Mountain West recently published two policy briefs authored by colleagues from the Brookings Institution. The first, titled "Improving K-12 Education for Hispanic Students in Las Vegas and Beyond" explores the racial and ethnic achievement gaps, including teacher diversity, for Hispanic students within the Clark County School District. The second, titled "'You Never Know' Work and Precarity in Las Vegas Before and During COVID-19" examines work and work-based policy issues facing middle-class Americans in Las Vegas, Nevada using focus group data collected before the pandemic and discusses what lessons might be learned.
