Brittani Sterling and Su Kim Chung (both Libraries) are the authors of a chapter, "We Need to Talk: Creating a University Library-Driven Series on the UNLV Campus to Address Systemic Racism" published in the book, Creating an Inclusive Library: Approaches for Increasing Engagement and Use with Students of Color. The chapter discusses how the UNLV Libraries and the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs developed the award-winning We Need To Talk: Conversations on Racism for a More Resilient Las Vegas series in the wake of the 2020 killing of George Floyd and the subsequent civil rights protests that erupted across the country.
The next event in the We Need To Talk Series, focused on the fight for diversity, equity, and inclusion, will take place Monday, Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the Greenspun Hall Auditorium. The conversation will also stream live by UNLV TV.
