Brandon Williams (Chemistry and Biochemistry) and collaborators at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) published an article, "Steam Oxidation of Uranium Mononitride in Pure and Reducing Steam Atmospheres to 1200 °C.," in the Journal of Nuclear Materials. Williams is a first-year radiochemistry doctoral student.
The research is a result of a project funded through CONNECT: The Consortium on Nuclear Security Technologies funded by the National Nuclear Security Administration Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program. The program, a consortium between UNLV, UTSA, and St. Mary's University, is designed to build a pipeline between Department of Energy sites and labs and minority-serving institutions in STEM disciplines.
