Drs. Banveet Kaur Khetarpal and Awad Javaid (both Medicine) recently published a manuscript, "Electromagnetic Interference from Left Ventricular Assist Device in Patients with Transvenous Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator," in Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology. The authors reviewed more than 700 patients over 16 years with advanced heart failure who had both a left ventricular assist device and an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. The clinical impact of LVAD-related electromagnetic interference on TV-ICD was investigated and solutions for this phenomenon were proposed.
