Austin Horng-En Wang (Political Science) published the article, "Strategic Ambiguity, Strategic Clarity, and Dual Clarity," in Foreign Policy Analysis. In this article, Wang and others conducted a survey experiment to examine the underlying psychological assumptions behind the strategy ambiguity policy that the US designed for handling the US-China-Taiwan relationships. The result shows that a widely ignored alternative, the "dual clarity" policy, will have a similar effect on Taiwanese respondents while it may reduce the uncertainty caused by the strategic ambiguity. A game-theoretical model is also provided to explain its mechanism.
