Austin Horng-En Wang (Political Science) was invited by the East Asian Institute at the National University of Singapore to give a talk, titled "Taiwan's 2024 Presidential and Legislative Elections: Explanations and Implications," on Jan. 17. In this talk, Wang analyzed the result of the 2024 Taiwan Presidential election, which suggests that the emerging third party effectively absorbed the nonpartisans and moderate voters in 2020. The China factor was also not as salient as in 2020. The analysis can help us infer the future US-China-Taiwan interactions.
