Austin Horng-En Wang (Political Science) published a policy report exploring the psychology of national defense among Taiwanese people. In the report, Wang conducted and analyzed survey experiments to estimate multiple factors linking to the rational and irrational calculation on the potential military conflicts. Military experience, nationalism, and perceived collective action play a role in the decision-making process. The report is published by the Global Taiwan Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank focusing on the U.S.-Taiwan relationship.
