As part of the leadership team for Q:UNLV (the LGBTQ+ staff/faculty affinity group), staff members Ash Quinn, Raven Brown (both Student Affairs), and Rocky Rockstraw (Nursing) presented a panel at the Southern Nevada Diversity Summit on October 4. The panel included two students, the co-president of UNLV's registered student organization Spectrum, Mars and Kel. Titled "Queer & Trans in Higher Education," the session was a panel on experiences and needs for queer and trans staff, faculty, and students in the post-secondary education setting. The panel explored the successes UNLV has made in strengthening the LGBTQ+ community on campus, as well as discussed next steps for inclusive measures while building connections with attendees from Nevada State University, College of Southern Nevada, and the Las Vegas community.
