Aidy Weeks (Libraries, Medicine) and Stephanie Fell (Libraries) were among a group awarded the 2023 Project of the Year by the Medical Library Association for their work on the Hispanic/Latinx Inclusive Terminologies Project. Launched in 2020, this project became a catalyst for changes in racial/ethnic medical subject headings, created a new search hedge, influenced term updates by the National Library of Medicine, and had an opportunity to address racial/ethnic terminologies with representatives of the federal government. Aidy served as the Project Lead and was the MLA Latinx Caucus Chair from 2020-2022. Former UNLV faculty who worked on the project include Ruby Nugent, Mellanye Lackey, Rebecca Orozco, Mayra Corn, and Halle Burns.
