Aidy Weeks (Libraries) and Jamia Williams, University of Utah, were invited to present on their advocacy work before the Interagency Working Group tasked by the Office of Management and Budget to review and consider changes to racial and ethnic minimum reporting standards. Their presentation "Racial and Ethnic Categories: Impact on Medical Subject Headings" was originally presented before the Interagency on December 15, 2022 and an encore presentation took place before the Medical Library Association on Thursday, January 19 as part of the annual Presidential Address showcasing advocacy efforts by members of the Association. This presentation was the culmination of the ongoing advocacy missions of the Latinx Caucus and the African American Medical Librarians Alliance Caucus to address problematic terms and promote inclusivity within medical subject headings reflective of ever changing racial/ethnic terminologies. Weeks is an assistant professor and director of the UNLV School of Medicine Library.
