About Zachary Zheng

Zachary Zheng (June 21, 2000 - February 11, 2018) had been an imaginative storyteller since preschool. He demonstrated his creativity not only in his writing, but also in how he expressed himself everyday. He entertained us with his figurative way of describing ideas, objects, situations, and emotions, and often surprised us with his unique and refreshing perspective. He was a profound thinker with a strong sense of social justice and social responsibility. He always searched for truth, tried to enjoy every moment, and sincerely wanted to bring happiness to people around him. Because he treated everyone with an open heart and looked beyond the surface, Zachary quickly connected with people of different backgrounds. With his natural kindness and positivity, Zachary found friends wherever he went.

Zachary pursued interest in film-making and fiction writing, but writing poetry became his greatest passion. He pursued all of his passions with irrepressible enthusiasm. As some of his teachers said. he was "a rare combination of scholarship, artistic talent and empathy.”
