Description

As part of the Brookings Scholar Lecture Series, Brookings Mountain West invited the public to a lecture titled "Upward Mobility in the Mountain West" by Senior Fellow in Economic Studies, Richard Reeves. This lecture examined the state of the American dream in the Mountain West. Which cities and states have the highest rates of upward social mobility, and why? What role do colleges and universities play in promoting opportunity across the region? What is the contribution of immigration to the creation of dynamic, opportunity-rich cities? Blending economics, public policy, and urban studies, this lecture will cast fresh light on the creation of opportunity in the region, and proposes an agenda for “mobility among the mountains.”
