UNLV GIS Bootcamp

Description
The UNLV GIS Bootcamp is designed for UNLV researchers who want to strengthen spatial thinking, incorporate GIS, learn spatial analysis tools, and effectively communicate with maps in their research.
By the end of this program, participants will be familiar with the following topics:
- GIS Data Management
- Spatial Data Cleaning
- Spatial Data Analysis
- Elementary Spatial Statistics
- Spatial Data Visualization Methods and Techniques
The program runs January 14-17. The first two days consist of hands-on workshops and the last two days are reserved for individual or group consultations providing tailored guidance for effective GIS integration in participants research.
Lunch will be provided for registered participants on the first two days of the bootcamp.
Registered participants will receive more information on how to schedule individual or group consultations closer to the date of the event.
Admission Information
Eligibility
Must be a UNLV affiliated member and register for the bootcamp two weeks prior to the start date. No prior experience with GIS is expected from participants. However, working knowledge of Windows is assumed. Mac and Linux users can prepare by learning how to use File Explorer to find and manage files in Windows, launch programs from the Start Menu, unzip downloads, and copy/paste text. Must RSVP through the library calendar.
