Description
Speaker: Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano, Founders of SIR Video
This wide-ranging conversation will traverse 1990s lesbian-queer San Francisco, as told through the archive of SIR Video and its founders, Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano. The creative masterminds behind a series of award-winning feminist adult films, the duo drew their inspiration from the various sex-positive worlds they inhabited. Rednour and Strano will discuss how their films, and their archive, which is now housed in UNLV's Special Collections and Archives, capture a bygone era in which San Francisco’s queer, working-class creatives made zines, art, music, and sex-positive media with the knowledge that even if their projects failed, they could still pay their rent and stay afloat in the city they loved. This event is part of the launch for UNLV's new Sexual Entertainment and Economies Collection.
