Description

Bailey Anderson's SON OF A BITCH investigates the technological anxieties about war in our future by utilizing the functionality of spaghetti western films to evaluate masculinity through an allegorical lens. Borrowing from these films, Bailey Anderson’s research reproduces the aesthetics of these films, inspired by its purpose as an political device in highly censored 1960s Italy and Spain, to discuss the gender crisis taking place in post-WWII European masculinities.

SON OF A BITCH is the culminating thesis exhibition of MFA student, Bailey Anderson, an artist researching American culture, history, and masculinity of the late 20th century. Through sculpture, Anderson untangles systemic violence using cultural reference in media.

SON OF A BITCH will be on view at the Donna Beam Gallery from February 11 - 21 with a closing reception from 6 - 9 p.m. on February 21. All guests are invited to dress in their finest cowboy attire.
