Description
Tenor LaVell Thompson, Jr., presents a Doctor of Musical Arts recital featuring the premiere of a new work, composed by the singer. Thompson writes:
"The theme of this recital is A Lover's Journey. That is specifically in reference to the new song cycle I completed in 2024. It was written for voice and piano quintet (piano and four string instruments). It features original music and original poetry by me. The collection of seven movements (songs) showcases the various types of partner love one can experience. In addition, I'm premiering four Spanish songs by Manuel Ponce and there will be a set of my favorite musical theatre selections."
