An Opening Reception for Four Art Exhibitions

When

Jan. 24, 2025, 5pm to 8pm

Office/Remote Location

Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art
We are looking at an abstract painting. Two vaguely geometric red shapes hover against a field of gray. The gray in the right third of the image is pale, and marked with a field of narrow grey-black stripes running horizontally. A roughly circular area in the stripes has been left blank, creating a light monochrome shape that hovers above one of the red shapes. The colors are dynamic but the composition as a whole is quietly, harmoniously balanced.

Description

Join us at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art on January 24 as we celebrate the opening of four powerful new exhibitions.

The Museum's spring roster encompasses a rich array of work, including decades of art by an unsung Las Vegas abstract painter, international poster designs for women’s rights, a group of artists using color in dynamic and surprising ways, and a new painting that meditates on Las Vegas street life at sunrise.

The upcoming programming for the first half of 2025 includes a new season of Bus to the Barrick field trips for schools, and free artist-led workshops every month.

The reception event takes place at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. The four exhibitions opening at this event—Yoko Kondo Konopik: On Canvas, Color Made, AL AMANECER, and Women's Rights Are Human Rights: International Posters on Gender-Based Inequality, Violence, and Discrimination—will be on view at the Marjorie Barrick Museum until Saturday, May 17, 2025.
